Keiren(IPA(key) /kaɪ'rɛn/), or Kei(IPA(key) /kaɪ/), is a human and captain of Edinmire's guard. He is son of Flora's former master, who apparently would stand up often despite being a slave. However, as he grew older, he began to respect her less due to pressure from his friends. When Flora ran way Keiren joined a group of people that were chasing her down, forever damaging their relationship. Upon their reunion, Flora has not fully forgiven him and still views him with distrust and anger, despite him showing signs of remorse for what he did.
Keiren is a Human male of fairly large height, at least when compared to other characters side by side who do have confirmed heights, and is fairly well built. He has had medium length blond hair for seemingly most of his life, even in flashbacks a many years before the main comic's events, tied into a ponytail at the back with a dark green band. He has white skin and brown eyes. Notably Keiren has a small scar in the shape of two scratches on his right cheek, this scar was not present during Flora's flashback to their youth together suggesting that he gained it after she ran away. Keiren is apparently quite good looking by Human standards and multiple characters such as Flora and Reni have expressed a form of attraction to him despite not even being Humans themselves.
In terms of clothing Keiren has been seen in two types of gear, his casual clothes from when he was a teenager and his militiamen armor from his current age. In his youth Keiren could be seen wearing a basic brown robe along with his trademark hair band. While as an adult his armor consists of metal plates on both shoulders, brown gloves, a chainmail robe down to his knees and finally a metal helmet, though he is typically seen with the latter removed.
Keiren makes a brief appearance during a one panel flashback from Reni while she is deciding whether to agree to Karen's beach party offer. In the flashback, which seems to take place the afternoon after Chapter 18 and but before Chapter 19, Keiren talks to Reni about his suspicions of both Trace Legacy and the Templar. He tells her to keep a close eye on them for him, especially "the tiger", suggesting that he is worried about Flora and wants to make sure she is safe. His words are ultimately what convinces her to accept Karen's invite realizing it would be a good opportunity to spy on them, even if personally she disagrees with the idea of spying.

Reni is hinted to have a crush on Keiren in the main comics however, in the non-canon Side Sketches this point is much more heavily elaborated on for comedic effect.
